BOOKING FAQ’S

Do I really need to book?

Our classes are regularly full and require bookings so our teachers can accommodate your mini-artist.

Our Saturday drop in session is an exception to this, and does not need to be booked, however once we reach maximum limit on our Saturday sessions there could be a waiting period, to guarantee a spot in the class you can BOOK HERE

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A LESSON?

If your mini-artist cannot attend a class and you give us the required notice (more than 8 hours) we are happy to offer catch up session at any Saturday DROP IN SESSION or alternate mid-week session after your class is missed.

If your mini-artist cannot attend any of the catch up sessions offered credit can be applied to your account for classes. Credit can be accrued throughout the term to a maximum value of 2 classes per student. Credit can be used for the following term or during school holidays.

To obtain your catch up session or credit you must contact our bookings department viz text on 0400 382 617 with the required notice. We are unable to apply credit or arrange a catch up class if you do not contact our bookings department directly. Contacting your child’s teacher directly will not result in credit being applied.

**In the instance your child has come home from school sick, and you were unable to give us required notice, please call 0400 382 617 and we will see what we can do.**

WHAT AGE GROUPS DO YOU CATER FOR?

We have a range of classes for most age groups from 3- 16 years. See our class timetable for age ranges.

We can also arrange private one on one lessons for kids with specific goals they would like to achieve.

How much do lessons cost and why do your class prices vary so much?

Each class uses different materials, which means the material cost and setting up costs differ greatly. We have worked out our class prices to give you the best price possible taking these factors into account.

All term fees are indicated on our class pages –

ADULT CLASSES

DO YOU OFFER MOBILE BOOKINGS?

Yes! We can do group bookings, art lessons, and therapeutic art sessions in your home. Travel surcharges will apply depending on your location.  If you would like to book a mobile art session please email us at in**@ar****.au.

CAN I BOOK A INDIVIDUAL ART SESSION?

Yes! Our one on one sessions start from $88 (for one teacher, for one hour) and you can book any teacher you wish! Session times will be dependent on when your chosen teacher is available.

One on one sessions are an excellent way to work intensely on a skill you want to improve or to reach a goal you have quickly. We have found that for most students 3-4 one on one sessions can increase students skills equivalent to a full 10 week term of group sessions.

If you would like to book a one on one session, please contact us on in**@ar****.au with your request.

HOW DO I BOOK A PORTFOLIO CLASS?

Our portfolio class has been created specifically for older students who have specific goals they are working towards. Admission to the portfolio class is by application only. You can propose your booking in our online booking system as normal, however we will not require payment at the time of booking. We will contact you to discuss your mini-artist’s eligibility for this class, and if necessary meet with you to discuss what goals your mini-artist is aiming for.

We require our portfolio class students to have a certain level of autonomy, self-motivation and the ability to ask questions if they need help.

Once we have ascertained that your mini-artist is suitable for the portfolio class we will confirm your booking and you will be sent a message to let you know that payment is due.

DO YOU DO GROUP BOOKINGS?

Yes!

Group Workshop bookings start from $360 for a 2 hours session for 10 people in studio, final price depends on what kind of project you would like to do, and how many people you are booking for.

Please contact
in**@ar****.au with your request to find out more.

IS THERE SPACE LEFT IN THE SESSION I WANT TO BOOK?

Our bookings system will tell you how many spaces are left in the session you want to book. If there are no spaces left, you can add yourself to the waiting list to be notified if anyone cancels.

KIDS ART CLASS FAQ’S

DO I NEED TO STAY WITH MY CHILD DURING THEIR LESSON?

No. For our weekly classes there is no need to stay with your child unless they specifically need your presence. We find that students create more independently when they do not have their parents there!

If your child is under 5, we do require you to stay with them during our Saturday Drop In session, but there is no need to stay during our weekday preschool sessions.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD IS LATE FOR THEIR LESSON?

In most cases our teachers will endeavor to help your mini-artist catch up to the rest of the class, but this will not always be possible. Late arrival means that your mini-artist will miss crucial parts of the instruction, which will impact on their final result.

What happens if I am late picking my child up from their lesson?

For all our weekday classes students must be picked up within 15 minutes of the end of the lesson. Our teacher will not leave the studio until all the students have been picked up.

Students who remain at the studio for more than 30 minutes after the end of the lesson will incur a supervision fee of up to $60 per hour.

Our Saturday drop in session will be charged per hour or part thereof. Students who remain into the next hour will be charged in full for that additional hour.

CAN YOU CATER FOR MY HIGH NEEDS CHILD?

We love to be as inclusive as we can and we have many kids with high needs in our classes. Some of them have carers join in with them, and sometimes we can adjust things to make sure your mini-artist feels included and accomplished. We also have a wheelchair accessible toilet.

Some families are able to claim their sessions on NDIS funding!

Please chat to us if you feel your mini-artist needs something extra from us and we’ll see if we can accommodate it!

WHAT IF MY CHILD IS NOT THE RIGHT AGE FOR THE CLASS THEY WANT?

Due to the hazardous nature of some of our materials used and also our teacher to student ratio, we are unable to allow younger kids into classes that are designed for older kids. Age ranges are displayed clearly on the class title.

If your mini-artist is underage they will not be allowed to join the workshop and refunds will not be given.

We are happy to accept kids that are older than the age range if they are happy doing a class with younger kids!

HOW LONG WILL YOU KEEP MY CHILDS ART FOR?

Unless we are preparing for an exhibit, we encourage your child to take home their art with them on the day they create it. If this is impossible we will hold on to artworks for a period of 3 months. If they are not collected within 3 months artworks will be disposed of.

Whilst we would LOVE to hold on to all the beautiful art our students create, our studio is small, and with hundreds of pieces of art being created every week, we are unfortunately not able to hold on to everything.

HOLIDAY WORKSHOP FAQ’S

WE ATTENDED A POTTERY WORKSHOP, WHEN WILL MY POTTERY BE READY FOR COLLECTION?

Most pottery/ceramic creations can take up to 8 weeks to be ready to collect.

Once you have finished building your creation needs to “leather” before being safe to kiln fire. Once it has undergone initial firing, our ceramicist will gloss glaze your creation and it will return for a second round of firing to make it waterproof and ready to use.

We will contact you via text once your pottery is ready for collection. If you have not heard from us within 8 weeks after your workshop, please contact us!

CAN I LEAVE MY MINI-ARTIST WITH YOU FOR A FULL DAY ON THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS?

For most of our holiday sessions we have the option of supervision available through the break so you can leave them with us in between sessions.

Mini-artists will be required to stay on the studio property if you have booked lunch time supervision and will not be able to walk to buy their lunch, please send a packed lunch.

Where available you will have the opportunity to book lunch time supervision prior to the checkout section of our booking site.

I have an idea for a workshop – can you do it?

We love your ideas! And we love knowing what you want from us! If you have an idea, or your mini-artist wants to learn something that you don’t see in our workshops, please email us at in**@ar****.au and we will do our best to make it happen!

WHEN ARE HOLIDAY CLASSES AVAILABLE FOR BOOKING?

Our holiday program launches at the beginning of week 7 each term for the next holidays. Sign up to our newsletter to get updates and special offers for our holiday workshops!

ADULT CLASS FAQ’S

DO YOU OFFER ADULT CLASSES?

We have occasional workshops and a weekly class available for adults! CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

Are materials supplied for adult classes?

You will need to bring your own materials, and our teacher will help you learn to use your materials, so you can continue painting at home. If you do not have any art materials, you can purchase some student quality materials from our store in the studio.

ACCOUNT FAQ’S

How can I pay for my mini-artists lessons?

For term bookings your payment will be required at our online checkout using your card.

For drop in sessions, if you do not book and pay online, we have EFTPOS facilities and cash payment available in the studio.

CAN I PAY CASUALLY?

Most of our classes require a term commitment, and we are unable to hold spaces for casual students. Our Saturday drop in session is the only exception to this.

CAN I CLAIM MY CLASS ON THE NDIS?

Yes, if you are self managed or plan managed!

Many of our SELF-MANAGED NDIS clients claim the cost of their lessons on NDIS under daily activities or community participation. Please book your classes as normal through our website.

If you are PLAN MANAGED, we can send an invoice directly to your plan manager. Once your invoice is paid we can add credit to your account and you can book your session online as normal. Contact us at in**@ar****.au to arrange this.

Unfortunately we are not registered to be a provider for AGENCY MANAGED  funds.

HOW DO YOU I USE MY CREDIT FOR MISSED CLASSES?

CAN I CLAIM CREDIT FOR FRIENDS I HAVE REFERRED?

Yes! Share your class with your friends (on social media, text, email or by word of mouth!) and ask them to write your name under the “how did you hear about Artlis Studios” section of the sign up form.

We will give you $5 credit for every holiday workshop booking you bring to the studio, and $25 credit for every full term booking you bring to the studio. There’s no limit to how much credit you can earn, if you refer enough new students you could even pay for your next booking completely with referral credit!
