Science Art – Slime, Melts and Explosions, Tue 19th Jan, 10am-12pm, 7-13yrs

$36.00

First we’ll make some slime, then we’ll blow some stuff up, then we’ll melt some things!
In this science based art workshop, students will create their own slime, create some exploding paint patterns using vinegar bicarb bags, and then we’ll look at the effects of solvents on different kinds of substances and how we can use them to create different effects in our artworks.
Students will:
 – experiment with colour mixing
 – experiment with different recipes for slime making, understanding the chemical reaction that happens when we create slime.
 – discover automatic art, and play with some different ways to create it
 – get creative with a range of different media on different substrates and use solvents (artists alcohol and isocol) to create effects
We don’t use Borax in our slime (washing detergent base or eye drop base rather than borax) – this does make a slightly different texture than borax but it still is perfectly slimey and stretchy!
It’s one of those messy fun sessions where the kids don’t really realise they are learning!
