What mischief would we get up to if we were left home alone? What do our pets do when we are not there? Let’s cut and paste a cute cupcake liner Cat in the Hat and then have a go at drawing him! Handprint our own Thing 1 & Thing 2 as well as some crazy colouring in time.
  • Week 2: “Time for Bed, Little One” Caroline Pitcher Tina Macnaughton
Little Fox doesn’t want to go to bed. He’s not tired yet! But morning is breaking and his friends are either eating breakfast or getting ready for bed. Finally, Little Fox finds Squirrel and the two friends chase each other through the woods. But soon, Little Fox is getting sleepy. Maybe it is time for Little Fox to get ready for bed after all…What helps us to get to sleep at night? Which forest friends of ours do we like to play with during the day? Today we play with collage and paper plates for our foxy face. Sketch our own forest filled with colour and creatures. Make an adorable otter paper bag craft!
  • Week 3: “Elmer” David McKee
Elmer the elephant is bright-colored patchwork all over. No wonder the other elephants laugh at him! If he were ordinary elephant color, the others might stop laughing. That would make Elmer feel better, wouldn’t it? We will chat about being yourself and the power of laughter! Save your 2 litre plastic bottle for this one to create our own Elmer the elephant! Using glue and tissue paper for the patchwork. Practice printing with our sponge patchwork painting and colour the rainbow onto our Elmer printout!
  • Week 4: “Frozen” Disney
When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna, a young dreamer, must team up with Kristoff, a daring mountain man, and his reindeer on the grandest of journeys to find Anna’s sister, the Snow Queen Elsa, and put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes, and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction. Perhaps the tinies could be the story tellers today? A request from the artists! First we will create an Elsa wand and then watch the magic unfold with our crayon and watercolour resist snowflake art! Turn our recycled toilet rolls into cute little Olafs! So much to do in so little time…let’s make a sequel!
  • Week 5: “Frozen 2” Disney
Anna of Arendelle wants nothing more than to be helpful to her older sister, Elsa. But as far as Anna can see, ever since Elsa’s coronation, her sister has been doing just fine without her. And now, Elsa will be setting sail for a grand tour of the world–leaving Anna behind. But a mysterious sickness strikes Arendelle, and Elsa’s tour is delayed, giving Anna the perfect opportunity to finally help. What would our super power be? What makes our sisters special? Let’s start with a science experiment! Snowstorm in a jar! Try our hand at beading with snowflake craft. Colour, paint and decorate our favourite characters!
  • Week 6: “Tales From The Gum Tree” Jane Massam
Join Snugglepot and Cuddlepie on their enchanting adventures through the Australian bush. With amazing butterfly rides, boating escapades and a surprise moonlight pageant, prepare to fall in love with May Gibbs’ classic characters. Let’s turn ourselves into art today with an easy DIY bush baby costume! “We love to sit in the sunshine”! Using our Snugglepot and Cuddlepie frame, draw your perfect day! With Mum or Dad’s help, see if we can crack the bush code using the nature key!
  • Week 7: “Koala Lou” Mem Fox Pamela Lofts
Koala Lou is the first born in a large family. She feels sad because her mother seems too busy to pay her any attention. Perhaps if she wins the tree-climbing at the Bush Olympics her mother might notice her again…Koala Lou starts training right away. What do we know about koalas? What are some ways to show someone you love them? What better way to start than with some koala art from cut out hearts! Then onto painting and creating our eucalyptus leaves before putting it altogether into our bush landscape.
  • Week 8: “Pig the Fibber” Aaron Blabey
He’s back! But this time Pig, the world’s greediest Pug, is telling great big lies. Won’t he ever learn? Another laugh-out-loud book from Pig the Pug. Have you ever fibbed? Why is it important to tell the truth? Let’s get to know our pets at home. Start by sketching your pets and share a funny story about them. Using the materials from your art pack, create your own unique pet! Give them a name, a voice, a story! Cut and paste together a naughty little Pig the Pug to keep.
  • Week 9: “The Very Cranky Bear” Nick Bland
In the Jingle Jangle Jungle on a wet and windy day, four little friends meet a very cranky bear. Can they cheer him up? Let’s pop this cranky bear into a sweet, little bear cave creation for hibernation! Learn the bear necessities with fun facts. Hang onto some leftover cotton balls from our cave to help make our fluffy sheep in our Jingle Jangle Jungle. Can’t forget the king of the jungle with a paper plate lion and his fabulous curly mane! Roar!
  • Week 10: “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Mozzie” P Crumble Louis shea
“I don’t know why she swallowed the mozzie…She’s gotta be Aussie!” Aussie animals beware! There’s an old lady in the bush with an unstoppable appetite. Let’s test out our memory and see if we can recall them all! Identify and talk about our native animals. Time for some buzzing mosquito art – we will make this pesky insect fun! Mold our own little spiky echidna and watch out for the snappy craft stick crocodile!
