Expressive Painting Workshop - Intuition, Imagination and storytelling in artwork. 5-12 years
DATE: 31st March, 2019
PLACE: Artlis Studios, 30 Currumbin Creek Road.
AGES: 5-12 years
In this two hour workshop, Michaela will be working with your mini-artists on a process based painting to help them explore their wealth of imagination while working intuitively with texture and colour.
We will be creating paintings without the use of a brush. Instead we will employ various ‘tools’ and other fun and messy methods of mark making to tell a story through abstract narrative. This workshop will guide kids in abstract, free creativity while giving them license to own their emotions and provide a constructive means of self expression.
Process artworks help students develop their ability to allow freedom into their artwork, without getting hung up on perfection of a specific outcome, allowing mess and "mistakes" to be absorbed into the artwork as features, rather than imperfections.
We will use watercolours, acrylics and watercolour paper, along with a variety of tools to enhance creativity!
All materials supplied, air conditioned studio, yummy coffee right next door for parents to enjoy while your mini-artist is getting creative!
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MICHAELA:
With a Bachelors of Fine Arts graduate from the School of Art at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada with the future intent of achieving a Masters degree in Art Therapy, Michaela has had 3 years experience working with children, teaching her own form of art which relies heavily on imagination, self expression and using art as a form of communication.
She believes that the use of visual communication has the ability for each of us to better understand ourselves and each other and empowering children to own their creative license is one of the most important things we can teach them so that they can grow into strong expressive adults.
